The Pointless Palette
What is the pointless palette? Well..like most of you I love makeup. I would definitely classify myself as a makeup junkie! I am always ready to run and try the latest trend which may or may not work for me. But I have to give it a try anyway. This of course becomes a problem when my makeup work space becomes filled with a graveyard of never to be used again dreams and money just gone(looking at it now with a sad look on my face).
One day when I was throwing away my money aka what didn't work for me...I noticed "organizing" my car load of palettes that I had so many where I used mainly 2 or 3 colors out of a dozen. CRAZY!
At first I said maybe they didn't go with my skin tone...I love to rationalize...but after further thought I came to realize that it wasn' the skin tone that was a problem but that most of the left over colors really were too much of a contrast for me
. When I want a metallic or bold look then I would just get that kind of a palette. The mixing of some of the colors were just to much. So what was the point of this?
I was spending money for colors that would never touch my face! Basically a pointless palette. It was this experience that really made me look at how I wanted to have my own palette with my makeup line done. The point of spending so much money and time to do makeup should be rewarded with colors that you could really use.
A palette should be more than just pretty or in a pretty box. It should be mostly made of colors you can run with.. Day time, Night time, Giirls Night Out, Clubbing, Dinner or that Date Night. Colors you can layer to be bold or chill.
Finally let's not forget the every important "Is it pigmented?" So important. Nothing more frustrating to see a palette look so pigmented till you actually wear it. This was really important to me. I tested my colors to see how they did from the time I put them on in the morning and how they looked when the my day look ended and I either removed it or redid it for a night out. It took a while but I got what I wanted. Colors that last!!!! Pure makeup junkie joy!
One of the most important issues for me was also portability !! There are palettes that I love but would need to change my purse just to fit it...if I even have a purse that big! Sometimes you just don't know when your day or night will end and having a palette that is "purse friendly" is a plus. Throw it in your bag and your good for even those last min "What are you doing tonight?" Texts..
My love of makeup I am SURE will last a lifetime and now that I am designing my own line its making me enjoy testing out new ideas and palettes even more. It's what makeup junkies do..
