Shopping for New Makeup? Make Sure It Isn't Made in China

Let's face it, cosmetics -- good, quality cosmetics -- can put a dent in your budget. It can be tempting to pick up a lipstick or eyeshadow at your local drugstore, but do you know where it's made? Do you care? Well, you should. Some of the biggest names in the cosmetics industry are making their products in China or using some or all of their ingredients from that country and recent news has shown that asbestos and toxic metals are being used in their production.
Why is this happening? One reason is YouTube. YouTube makeup celebrities have made the inflated the desire to have the newest, trendiest makeup. This means huge demand, increased production and lower quality with no concern for consumer health and safety.
Unsafe packaging with formaldehyde is one problem. Another is an industrial chemical called BPA used in certain plastics that has also been found in metal eyeshadow pans, foundation bottles and plastic inserts. Some people have adverse reactions in the dyes used in blush and lipsticks imported from China. Foundation and liquid lipsticks from China have even been found to be contaminated with human and animal waste! And no one wants lead or arsenic on their face or lips.
It might be cheaper or more convenient to buy products made in China, just remember, your health could be at risk. For a list of companies that have been found to produce their makeup in China, click here:
