How do you apply eyeshadow?

So you have decided to up your makeup game and start using eyeshadows. You got your first palette and it is filled with all kinds of colors from nudes to bright pinks. Now what do you do?
UNDERSTAND EYESHADOW TYPES
There are different types of eyeshadows but the matte and shimmers are usually the ones found in eyeshadow palettes. What is the difference between matte and shimmer? Basically one is on the sheeny, glittery side which is the shimmer and , the other matte has more of a flat finish.
Can you use both shimmer and matte on your eyes? Yes always mix your shimmer and matte eyeshadows. If you use all shimmer on your eyes it will give a full glitter effect while using just matte eyeshadows will make your eyes look to flat. Using a combination of both with give depth and provide details to the your personalized look.
KNOW YOUR EYE SHAPE
Now you have figured out your mattes from your shimmers and it's go time. But wait....not so fast. Do you know your eye type? It is important to know this information because it will determine how your eyeshadow will be applied. As you can see by the chart above, each eye type has a different application process to maximize the look.
APPLICATION
Once you have figured out your eye type it is now time to apply the eyeshadow colors. There are different eyeshadow looks that you can practice with but we will just focus on a simple technique using neutral eyeshadow colors. First, always go from the lightest shade to the darkest in the crease. Prepare your crease with a light brown eyeshadow first and then take medium brown and then dark brown. Prepping your crease with a lighter shade will make it easier for you to blend the darker shade later. Then use the chart above that determine where the additional colors will go.
Don't worry if it doesn't come out right the first time, you can simply use a makeup wipe or makeup remover and start again.
EYESHADOW PALETTES
CREATE YOUR OWN CUSTOM EYESHADOW PALETTE
There are new eyeshadow palettes being released almost weekly so many people will ask how many palettes do they actually need? It is always good to have a base of neutral colors and then add in more fun colors to play with. Eventually you will find those few go to shades that you love. Unfortunately, that may leave you with a palette of many unused colors that are not your style.
I recommend considering our CREATE YOUR OWN PALETTE. By choosing colors from over 50 choices. A customized palette allows you to not waste colors and saves you money.
